7-cm Dick: Big, Small, or Average?

Did you measure your penis recently and get 7 cm (2.75 inches) when hard? How does a 7-cm dick compare with the average penis size? Is a 7-cm penis small? Below, we go over the most common penis size and explain where a 7-cm dick fits in. We also give you a few tips on how to have a great sex life if you have a smaller penis.

How Big Is a 7-cm Dick Compared With the Average?

When we ask how big a penis is, what we’re really asking about is the erect length of a penis. So how does a 7-cm penis stack up against other penises?

We can answer this question by looking at a comprehensive study on penis size, published in 2015 in the British Journal of Urology International. According to the results of this study, the average erect penis length is 5.16 inches (about 13 cm), and the average flaccid length is 3.61 inches (about 9 cm). A 7-cm dick is clearly below both of these averages. But just how small is it?

In the study’s percentile chart, a 7-cm penis comes up below the 1st percentile. This means that more than 99 percent of men have penises longer than 7 cm when hard.

Is a 7-cm Penis a Micropenis?

While a 7-cm dick is clearly quite small comparatively speaking, does this make it a micropenis? The answer is, yes and no.

Science says that a micropenis is a normal-functioning penis that’s 2.5 standard deviations or more below the average. But the definition of a micropenis can vary depending on what “average” you use.

In the study above, for example, 2.5 standard deviations below the average stretched flaccid length (that is, the length of a penis when flaccid and stretched—this is generally similar to erect length) is 8.5 cm. Thus, a 7-cm dick would be a micropenis according to this particular data.

But not everyone defines micropenises in the same exact way. Some sources claim a micropenis is any penis less than 3 inches (7.6 cm), 2 inches (5.1 cm), or 2.8 inches (7.1 cm) long. As you can see, whether or not a 7-cm penis is in fact a micropenis can vary depending on the definition you use.

In that sense, a 7-cm dick can be said to straddle the boundary between micropenis and small penis.

Got a 7-cm Dick? 4 Tips for a Satisfying Sex Life

Though a 7-cm penis places you on the smaller side of the spectrum for penis length, this doesn’t mean you can’t have a fun and fulfilling sex life. Here are some tips for making the most of your smaller member in bed:

  • Talk about sex with your partner: Communication is the foundation for good (and even great) sex. So have an open conversation with your partner to figure out your desires and how you two can make it work.
  • Find positions that work well for your penis size: Sex isn’t a one-size-fits-all activity, so be prepared to figure out which positions better “fit” you (and your partner). Both Bustle and Refinery29 offer tons of helpful tips for sex positions for smaller penises.
  • Become a pro at foreplay and oral sex: Penetrative sex doesn’t have to be the main event. Work on making foreplay last longer, and read up on oral sex tips. Remember, your penis isn’t the only body part you have that can please your partner!
  • Be open to trying anal sex: If you’re a guy in a relationship with a woman, see whether she’s up for occasionally swapping out vaginal sex for anal sex. This act can bring mutual pleasure to both of you, giving you a tighter sensation and her a fuller one.

At the end of the day, try to remind yourself that sex isn’t about the size of your penis. Rather, it’s about your enthusiasm, your willingness to try new things, and most of all your ability to let loose and enjoy yourself!
